Christians and Slavery

A few weeks ago in Sunday school slavery was being discussed. I found it very interesting to hear that some people choose to believe that the Bible is not completely inspired by God, because it supports slavery. The problem with that claim is that it is false! The Bible does not encourage slavery, it tells us to stay in whatever situation we are in when we become Christians. This means if you are a slave, remain a slave, if you are a widow, remain a widow… ect… It kind of boggles my mind that people would claim that they don’t believe these passages that talk about slavery. Jesus did not come to take away slavery! Nor did he come to stop wars or abolish disease. He came to save the lost! This is so much more important than any of the topics I just listed. Slavery and all the others are simply of this world, and will not matter in the long run. I would much rather be a slave for 80 years of my life, and receive eternal life, than to be free for a hundred years, and end up in hell.
