When is it that we are supposed to give to the poor? I am sitting here at the laundry mat, and a young man, who couldn’t be any older than myself asked me for spare change. Since I am at the laundry mat there is obviously some change in my pocket, but I didn’t give him any.

The reason for this is that I have actually given to this same person in this same situation. The first time I wondered I’d if I should have, but I decided not to worry about it. This time though, I realized that maybe my giving isn’t really helping out this young man.

So my question to you is this. When do you draw the line on giving to the needy?
